Even though I'm a huge indie fan I still love other music ...

I'd have to say some of my favorites would be Billy Joel, Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, anything 80's ... the list goes on.

Yea both are good!

I was so pissed ... I came close to getting tickets to the latest Smashing Pumpkins tickets when they did a "exclusive" concert at a local club here in dc. Needless to say the site crashed and I couldn't place my order in time. Thats a band I still really want to see (even though I am so-so on their new album)

It doesn't get much more mainstream than The Beatles; I'd at least rank them among my favorites.

It's difficult to really 'define' mainstream as well as difficult to 'define' indie.
To list everything that I listen to outside of the indie genre would be quite a task and I have class soon so let's not try that. Some bands as of late I've attached myself too include Snow Patrol(really like em) and Foo Fighters(when i feel like rockin out, aye?). But mostly, in the last month, I've immersed myself in celtic music. And WOW. How have I had a collection of music without celtic for so long? I mean seriously. It's multi-mood music: I can chill to it, play games to it, read to it, cry to it, dance to it, 'you-name-it' to it. Gives me an every day epic sense to everything I do. I can be sitting on the couch and feel awesome, "I am sitting on THIS couch! Oh yeah! This one right HERE. I am so sitting on this couch and I am STOKED!!!" Ya know? Haha....
Also into techno a bit.
And the second most played genre by me outside of indie is electronic. Air, mum, Zero 7, Autechre, Amon Tobin, etc.
