While I normally wouldn't report on file sharing sites (Want to keep this site clean^^) I did notice the exclusive music site OiNK was raided over the night by a coordinated police attack.
While some of the information is incorrect (the site did not require users to upload music nor did it charge a fee for membership) what is correct is the site was shut down, the owner arrested and the servers seized. What is interesting is they arrested the 24-year-old owner was
arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud and infringement of copyright law. While I am not a lawyer it seems odd that he was arrested to begin with. His servers contained no illegal information and only pointed to where the site users have stored the information.
OiNK has a lone page up now that claims:
This site has been closed as a result of a criminal investigation by IFPI, BPI,
Cleveland Police and the Fiscal Investigation Unit of the Dutch Police (FIOD ECD) into
suspected illegal music distribution.
A criminal investigation continues into the identities and activities of the site's
usersWhich make many wonder if the authorities will attack the users themselves.
However according to
OiNK Memorial the site will be back "sooner than you can imagine"
Sad day indeed
