So, couldn't figure where I should put this so I ended up going for here.

I was wondering which direction you think the movie industry should go?

Personally I am completly pro on Blu-ray. I like that it out specs, out produces, and is easier to find a good player than HD-DVD.

What do you all think?

I believe that the industry should wait to transition into blu-ray.
Because right now, if they went hard into blu-ray, where does that leave the people that don't have high def television? They are spending more (blu-ray is more expensive) for quality they won't tell the difference of.

I say, slowly fade blu-ray in and HD-DVD semi-out. blu-ray is only economically feasible if it produces profit and if people can get decent to good quality dvd's for cheaper with the equipment they already have, why be discontented enough to purchase an entire entertainment system to spend a few extra bucks for maximum quality available?

Right now, HD-DVD should still stay.
In the future, blu-ray. But when that future point in time is, I cannot predict or say.

Yea I'd say song might actually win a format war here. However I've held off on buying anything yet to wait and see which format is going to win as I am sure a lot of other consumers are doing.

The split is really hurting more then helping ... people should just suck it up, pick a format and cut the losses. I don't see this clearing up anytime soon though as these companies spent so much money in research.

One of the reasons a friend and I now have Blu-rays. And it is inane. Did you know that HD-DVD is and has been stuck under 40% of the market? Just inane.

Add into that that anyone can go out and start burning blu-rays with store bought blanks and drives. I have never seen a HD-DVD burner for sail in a store.

I'm personally protesting both. I don't like market splits like this. In the video game world, we're used to having to own multiple systems to play all of the games we enjoy.

The movie industry is much different though in that we've always been able to buy one system, and play any movie that comes out on that system. I'm sticking with my regular upconvert DVD player till this is resolved, or till something new comes out that puts them both under.

Right now I'll give it to Blu-Ray as having more potential though. Between PS3, and more large companies like Blockbuster backing them over HD, Blu-Ray looks like it has a brighter future.

I'm not sure if I necessarily agree with you, but I will say that you said what you did very well. Haha. Nice online speaking skills.

Unfortunately I think the PS3 will win it for Blu-Ray. I say unfortunately because I don't really like the PS3 compared to the 360, which may be pretty naive of me.

I would love someone just to decide tommorow...

Not naive at all.
When the PS3 was released, sales in PS2 and PSP went up. Sales in PS3 were miserable in comparison.
I'm also a fan of the 360 myself. =]

Heh me too ... although my TV is 720P and not 1080P so I really don't care that much for the time being.
