these arent really new bands, but surprisingly not many people in the D.C. area have heard of them. my cousin Jeremy Enigk started Sunny Day Real Estate in the early 90s in the Seattle area and a lot of people out there reguard them as a pretty influential indie/emo band. They broke up about 2002-ish and reformed a new band called The Firetheft sans 1 member. Firetheft comes to the Black Cat every now and then. Jeremy has a solo album ("Return of the Frog Queen") which is worth a listen too.
