Anyone else involved with this? Winamp has just released this software with their new winamp 5.5 update.

To give you an example of what this program can do: I used my external hard drive upstairs to play a movie on my television through my xbox360, play another movie on another tv in the house through the Nintendo Wii using the same hard drive, and played music from that same hard drive on another computer running the winamp remote program downstairs. (Of course, just because I could. I wasn't actually participating in all three activities, just excited that the possibility was there.)

This program opens up the doors to sharing your music within your household and with friends. I sent out an email with my playlist to friends on the east coast of america and they were able to receive the playlist without needing winamp on their own computer, and were able to listen to the music.

Google Winamp Remote to learn more. Let's discuss this new technology that is sure to change a lot of things about the media in the household! And it's still beta too!

That's pretty cool. I probably couldn't use this service since I don't have broadband, but I think it opens up a lot of amazing opportunities. Imagine throwing a party at a friend's house; you wouldn't need to take any music with you, just play it through your friends' PC or console using this. this is a really neat idea.

Yea I agree completely ... bandwidth is becoming cheaper and cheaper and cable/internet companies are giving customers more upstream so its nice to see things taking advantage of it.

You can do that.
And the best is it's a piece of cake.
For example: I am a college student. Let's say I go somewhere else and I leave my computer at home running winamp remote. Once I reach my location, I go to winamp.com/remote and login. And shazam, all the music that I loaded onto winamp remote is at my finger tips at a completely different location without lugging your music collection with you.

Inspiring technology. Can't wait to see where it goes.
