That's difficult. So much goes into making for a great show aside from just the sound or the band. The audience, general atmosphere, who you're with, the time period of your life, etc.

I might have to come back and name a few more. One of the first ones that comes to mind was a little band called Shock Lobo. My friends and I followed them around and saw every show they played in Atlanta (which is mainly where they played) for about a year. So many great shows for them....they always played in small venues as they were just starting to get a local following. My buddy got up on stage one of the times and started dancing (no, he wasn't invited up). They didn't do anything for a while though...just kept on playing. Somebody in the audience gave him a huge Shock Lobo sign to hold up. He raised it high above his head, but it was upside down. He stood there rocking out holding that sign upside down for about a minute while everyone there was doing this hand motion trying to tell him to rotate the sign. Security eventually escorted him off, but we ended up talking to somebody in the band and the lead singer's wife after the show.

Probably the Decemberists show I went to a few months ago up in Pennsylvania. Great show (Decemberists + My Brightest Diamond = <3333333) then met up with all of The Decemberists after the show. Great time.

My favorite show was over a decade ago. Maybe somewhere between 92 and 94. It opened up with Dance Hall Crashers (hot, and great singers with catchy songs), followed by Blink 182 with an incredible finish by Sprung Monkey.

The energy was high throught Soma in San Diego. And for the final song, Sprung Monkey played a full on thrash/speed rendition of Taking Care of Business, compressed to maybe a minute and a half. The entire place, even the restrooms become a pit in five seconds flat. It was AWESOME.

A very fun ska band. Granted, they are also the only band I have ever heard of trying to find all their songs, since they don't know some of the stuff they released... (serious :o )

If I remember correctly it was a back-alley bar (literally the entrance was in a alleyway) and I remember the bar having a giant screen tv that played cartoon network the entire length of the show. This was when I was like 13~14 and I remember my parents being a little uneasy dropping me off for the show. That was my first taste of a real punk crowd.
