I am very OCD on how my MP3 collection is organized. Every MP3 is properly named with the year of the release, artist, disk name, track #, disk number and title. I then have the correct album cover in each tag. It took me a while but it was worth it :-)

I use itunes too which recently has made these things easy^^

A year ago, I'd say it was pretty good. I had everything loaded on to my iRiver, and I always backed it all up on an external hard drive.

In the past year though, I've been putting everything on my PC, and not loading it on to my iRiver, or my external hd. About a month ago, my computer crashed so basically a year of music has been erased.

Mine is a completely disaster.

Song names contain weird characters, artists that aren't even in the song, and there is no real rhyme or reason to how they are titled. sometimes its just a song name, sometimes its a artists and the name, there are even some in there with just numbers.

It'd probably make your head explode to see :D

A tip for you guys using windows ... as I used to use one (up to like 3 weeks ago when I bought my mac :P )

There is a great program called tag & rename (google it) that allows you to name folders of music at a time (if its cd for instance).

As long as the music is in the same folder and in the same order as a cd ... you type in the artist and CD name ... it goes to amazon and downloads all the track information and album art ... then places it in the tags.

It worked wonders for my original collection.

I don't actually have an mp3 player or a list. I have a couple of songs on the computer, just in case I want to listen to them. They were either recorded from the vinyls or from cd's but, I rarely end up listening to them. They are titled for obvious reasons. :D

Yea I desperately want a vinyl collection. I promised myself I wouldn't start one until I become fully settled since records would be a pain to move around.

Why do you want a vinyl collection?

My father gained about 300 records overnight, as a dear friend of he's decided to get rid of them. So, I have been recording them and creating them into mp3s ever since. I record, turn into mp3, copy and delete. Joyous process considering, I get to listen to all of them all the way. I think that is about it for listening, as I'm not much of a major music fan but, when I do feel like listening I always put on a classic. :D

To be honest I don't really know .. I guess vinyl is just different and sounds slightly different from a CD as well. Some say its better and some say its worse ... but I guess I just like the concept of records. Besides it seems like a fun hobby.

I understand, it's the experience your after :D That's natural, and yes Vinyls records have much better sound quality then cds', depending of course on which ones you pick.

I think nothing beats an old classic be it in music, or in product. Eventually it always works out better, then the next best hit in technology.

I have itunes, and everything is alphabetical by artist.

I also have playlists that I have created to go with what I am doing that time of the day.
