Black Sabbath to reissue five deluxe albums

Black Sabbath have announced they have plans to re-issue five albums from their back catalog.   All five will be made into deluxe editions containing “extras” that should entice any Sabbath fan to throw their hard earned cash to get one.

To be released are as follows:

  • Vol 4.
  • Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath
  • Sabotage
  • Techincal Ecstasy
  • Never Say Die!

Albums will be on sale starting September 21st so make sure to save for them!

Paley Center Offers Contest for Documentry Makers

If you just so happen to live in the New York area and are working or thinking of working on a documentry the Paley center has a contest just for you!  During DoCfest, five pre-selected emerging film makers will be given a chance to pitch their idea to a panel of 5 judges.  The selected winner will recieve a $5,000 grant to pursue their idea.

Deadline for a submission is September 25.  Head over here to check out all of the rules and requirments.  Not so bad for free entry, huh?

You do NOT need to live in New York to be eligible, however, if you are selected as a finalist you are required to arrive to New York under your own expense.  Thanks ribbles for this clarification.

IFC Secures Rights to ‘Fish Tank’

IFC Films (The Independent Film Channel’s film company)  has acquired the U.S. rights to Andrea Arnold’s coming-of-age drama “Fish Tank.”  The film portrays a fifteen year old life after it is turned on its head when her Mom brings home a new boyfriend.  “Fish Tank” had its world premiere in competition at the Cannes Film Festival, where it shared a special Jury Prize with Chan-Wook Park’s “Thirst.”

IFC Films is releasing Fish Tank via its IFC in Theaters platform which brings movies to cable on demand viewers at home the same day they premiere in theaters.

Michael Jackson Concert Rehearsal Footage to will become a Feature Film

This Is It was the name of the ill-fated tour for Michael Jackson’s comeback tour.  Now it has become the name of the film for the preparations and rehearsal of the show.  The film is comprised of rehearsal footage shot in the days and weeks before his untimely death.

The movie is set to include behind-the-scenes footage, interviews with collaborators, and 3D sequences in addition to the much anticipated footage of the rehearsals.

According to a press release, the This Is It movie is due in theaters worldwide October 28 via Sony; the film is being produced with support from the Estate of Michael Jackson.
